Operations · Workflows · Sensory Design

Your shop is thriving.
Your operations shouldn't be the bottleneck.

We help artisanal makers and small businesses build the systems, workflows, and spatial organization that let you scale without losing what makes your work yours.

The Problem

You make beautiful work. Your operations are still running on memory.

Project information lives in three places at once: someone's head, a piece of paper, and eventually the accounting software. Between the moment work happens in the field and the moment a job is complete, the project exists only in memory and on a desk somewhere.

That's where friction lives. That's where you lose time. That's why you can't answer "when?" honestly, can't take a week off, and can't delegate the front desk.

We design the systems that give you back your bandwidth — so you can spend your time on the craft.

How We Work

Listen first. Build what fits.

Discovery

We listen to how your shop actually works — not how you wish it worked. Where is the time leak? What information gets asked twice? What do the field teams know that the office doesn't?

Design

We map a system built for your business, not a generic template. Often that means paper stays paper. Tools are chosen to do more work with the systems you already have — not to replace them.

Implementation

We build it, run a pilot with you, refine based on what actually happens, then train your team to own it. You're not dependent on us. The system runs without us.

Recent Project

Custom fabrication shop · Western Colorado

A third-generation custom fabrication shop, ready to scale beyond the founder's desk. We designed the operational backbone — from field measurement through customer delivery — so the owner could stop being the bottleneck and start being the designer.

Field Capture System

Standardized measurement sheets that capture what installers already know, in a way it can be handed off and searched later. Six product-specific sheets, designed for field use.

Brand & Website Strategy

A full website concept that repositions the brand toward higher-value work, with an intake form that pre-qualifies by budget and scope before the first conversation.

Front-of-House Procedures

A four-layer system: capture, translation, visibility, archive. Status updates flow to customers automatically. Return customers become a 30-second lookup.

Bid Screening & Estimating

A gate that loses long-shot bids cheaply and protects the owner's hours for the work that converts. Two-tier estimating keeps the fast work fast.

The owner can answer "when?" in 30 seconds, honestly, from one screen. The estimate gap closes. Customers stop calling for status — because they already know.

What We Build

Operations, workflows, and the spaces they happen in.

Who This Is For

Makers who've outgrown the everything-in-my-head phase.

Artisanal Shops

Custom fabricators, studios, and workshops where the work is bespoke and quality matters.

Small Businesses

Founder-driven companies ready to delegate without losing their edge.

Families & Individuals

Executive function coaching and spatial organization for neurodivergent individuals and families.

For Individuals & Families

The container and the chemistry.

Our experience of daily life is an interplay between our environment and our executive function — the internal systems that help us plan, prioritize, and follow through. When either one isn't working, everything feels harder than it should.

Cocoon works on both: the sensory design of your space (the container) and the workflows and adaptive systems that happen within it (the chemistry).

Executive Function Coaching

Customized approaches for ADHD, dyslexia, and sensory processing differences. We build adaptive work systems, not rigid rules — systems that fit how your brain actually works.

Sensory & Spatial Design

Spaces designed around how you actually live and work. Calm focus, sensory outlets, flow between tasks. The environment becomes the support system.

Design Work

The space is the system too.

Operations don't just live in software. They live in how a room is organized, where people sit relative to each other, what the space encourages and what it discourages. Interior architecture is operational design at a different scale.

Weave Development · Office CreationSpace

Sensory-smart office design for a software development team. Four zones — Code, Confer, Compete, Chill — each calibrated for a different mode of work. Playful culture meets intentional quiet.

About

Amber Hanna

[ your portrait here ]

I've spent my career at the intersection of how people think and how their environments support — or undermine — that thinking.

I founded Catalyzed Minds, a private learning intervention practice for neurodivergent students, where I trained and managed a team of six. I've designed sensory spaces for highly sensitive individuals, universal-design bathrooms for accessibility, and passive-house remodels with permaculture landscapes. Now I bring that same design thinking to operational systems for artisanal makers.

The thread through all of it: reading the unstated brief. Identifying what you need but can't yet articulate. Then building the system — spatial, procedural, or both — that makes it work.
